All-Energy 2016 – Just Four Weeks Away
All-Energy 2016 is the 16th show in the annual series will be held at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) on Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 May 2016, bringing with it an exhibition with new dedicated zones; more conference streams and many of the tried, tested and popular features of past years. After 14 shows in Aberdeen, All-Energy moved last year to the SECC and was a resounding success with 8,250 attendees from 50 countries; some 450 exhibiting companies and, almost the same number of speakers from home and overseas.
The conference programme includes such luminaries as ScottishPower’s Keith Anderson; Professor Sir Jim McDonald of Strathclyde University and co-chair of the Scottish Energy Advisory Board; and keynote speakers including Atlantis Resources’ CEO Tim Cornelius; DONG Energy’s, Benj Sykes; Ronnie Quinn of The Crown Estate; Tom Greatrex of the Nuclear Industry Association; Professor Peter Fraenkel, with a specific challenge for the tidal stream industry; Earnell Kelly of Doosan Fuel Cell America; Graham Cooley, ITM Power’s CEO; and Alan Cumming of Viridor.
In line with Scottish Government aims, the conference will be looking at both energy supply and end use; and, at local energy strategy; and includes sessions devoted to heat, transport and community energy in all its guises.
Renewable Energy
Every form of renewable generation comes under the conference spotlight and is featured in the exhibition. Fifteen sector-specific trails help visitors easily locate the exhibitors they are keen to see. Heating (with its own exhibition zone); energy storage (also with an inaugural zone); energy efficiency; sustainable and smart cities’ requirements; combined with finance and funding, the grid (including smart grids) - all play their part.
At All-Energy buyers can track down suppliers; suppliers can find out how to get on to the ‘tender list’ for a variety of projects.
Supporters in Plenty
All-Energy is held in association with the Renewable Energy Association (REA); Highlands and Islands Enterprise; Scottish Enterprise; Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG) and host city Glasgow. The Society for Underwater Technology is the show’s learned society patron; and UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), All-Energy’s ‘Key International Trade partner’, will play an active role with country briefings and 1-2-1 meeting opportunities, as well as (on 5 May) staging an event in their ‘Offshore wind opportunities in China and Taiwan’ roadshow series.
The Carbon Trust and Scottish Enterprise, also both All-Energy supporting organisations, will also be holding a special duo of sessions (one each day) on the UK Marine Enabling Technology Programmes’ results showcasing the combined outputs of the UK’s leading marine energy sector support bodies, The Carbon Trust, Scottish Enterprise, Innovate UK and the ORE Catapult. The programmes to be covered from the last couple of years of activity include the Marine Renewables Commercialisation Fund (MRCF); the Tidal Array Cabling; Marine Energy: Supporting Array Technologies (MESAT); and the ORE Catapult’s Component Failure Analysis.
Many the organisations with which All-Energy’s is closely associated, such as the British Hydropower Association; Community Energy Scotland; Cranfield University; The IET; Local Energy Scotland; Marine Scotland; Renewable Energy Association; Scottish Energy Association; Solar Trade Association Scotland; and sponsors Shepherd and Wedderburn, are holding sessions that they have masterminded or worked in association with the All-Energy team in producing.
A further 40 organisations including government departments, professional bodies and trade associations act as supporters of the two-day annual event.
