Antarctic Exploration Symposium

The Antarctic Exploration & the Southern Ocean International Symposium will be held from 28th to 30th June at the Southampton Oceanography Centre, Southampton, United Kingdom. In 1904 the SY Discovery returned to the UK from a highly successful voyage of scientific and geographical exploration. Since, the Antarctic continent and the surrounding Southern Ocean have become of tremendous importance in understanding the environment and workings of our planet. This symposium, through its programme of invited speakers and participants, will combine historical perspective with presentations of modern-day accomplishments to both celebrate the centennial of Discovery and to look to the future.
