AR861B2S Acoustic Releases

The Southampton Oceanography Centre has awarded a contract for 23 AR861B2S Acoustic Releases with TT801 command units, plus options for additional equipment in 2004, to Ixsea Oceano Ltd for the RAPID programme. The RAPID programme is part of an international study of the circulation of the North Atlantic currents and their effect on climate. Mooring lines will be going into the water in January 2004, for fifteen months. The deepest lines will be moored at 5,000m depth. SOC has been using Oceano releases for over fifteen years and the new releases have full acoustic and mechanical compatibility with their existing equipment, simplifying the design of SOC standard dual release moorings. All Ixsea Oceano releases use Standard Alkaline D cells, available off-the-shelf all over the world.
