JDR Cables has been awarded the contract by the Polarcus Group based in Dubai U.A.E. for the supply of Airgun umbilical systems and Lead-in cable systems for their entire fleet of six new build, ultra-modern 3D seismic vessels.

The scope awarded to JDR includes the supply of 35 kilometres of Airgun umbilicals and 65 kilometres of Lead-in cable systems. The cable systems will be supplied from JDR's new quay side facility located at Krimpen near the port of Rotterdam.

"JDR's partnership with Polarcus further demonstrates our commitment to providing the most highly engineered ‘fit for purpose' cable systems offered in the industry today," stated Han van Veen, managing director of JDR Marine Cables B.V., " Polarcus is building the world's most pioneering and modern 3D seismic fleet and we are pleased JDR was chosen to provide the umbilical and cable expertise for the entire fleet. JDR's extensive track record and commitment to pushing the boundaries of research and design is a very good fit for this project."

The six vessel fleet will be completed over the next two years, with the first 12 streamer vessel operational in Q3 2009 and all six vessels operational within 2010.
