Caris Conference Attracts Record Numbers

Caris hosted its 13th International User Group Conference, CARIS 2010, at the Four Seasons hotel in Miami, Florida, USA on 22nd to 26th March 2010. Stronger Together - People, Products, Infrastructure was this year's conference theme that brought together delegates from a record number of nations. The conference featured two days of engaging User Group Meetings and Training Camps, followed by two days of paper sessions.

Rear Admiral Tim McGee opened the sessions with an inspirational keynote address leading into a collection of extremely high-quality presentations by some of the world's top authorities on topics including Education in Hydrography, Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure, Bathymetric Data Management and Chart Production. Caris 2010 also attracted the highest number of exhibitors than any previous Caris conference.

The conference was complemented with daily social events taking advantage of Miami's urban oasis. Delegates experienced the glitz and glam of Miami's famous Ocean Drive and South Beach area. The sounds of an authentic Cuban trio opened the conference banquet where delegates checked their shoes at the door and were served cocktails from the center of a wading pool under towering palms, in true Miami style.

As with past Caris conferences, this event proved to be an outstanding opportunity for exchanging ideas and technical expertise amongst industry experts.
