Cavity Absorption Meter Demonstrations
Turner Designs will be demonstrating its ICAM, Integrating Cavity Absorption Meter during Oceans ’16 MTS/IEEE in Monterey, USA, on Tuesday 20 September 2016 at 11am, 1pm and 2pm. The demonstration will show how turbidity (suspended sediments) has little to no effect on the spectral signature of water samples. Specific dyes will be measured to show registration of wavelengths. In addition, the company will estimate algal abundance in bay water in order to demonstrate instrument sensitivity.
ICAM, an in situ Integrating Cavity Absorption Meter, is factory configured with nine (9) wavelengths from UV (365nm) to Red (676nm) enabling absorption measurements over a wide spectrum. Built with solid-state optics and electronics, ICAM provides excellent reliability and low power consumption in a fully integrated package. Absorption can be measured from 0.001m-1 to a maximum of 15m-1. Data can be collected at a maximum rate of six measurements per second using the ICAM GUI. Alternately, ICAM can be configured for standalone operation running off battery power with data logged internally at a maximum rate of one measurement per second.
Turner Designs’ dockside demonstration will take place between the Monterey Harbor Office and the Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club.
