Commercial Diver Honoured

A heroic commercial diver was honoured at the Inland/Inshore Diving Conference Awards luncheon, organised by Spearhead Exhibitions and Underwater Contractor International, in association with the Association of Diving Contractors and the Society for Underwater Technology, today.
Richard Fila was presented with the Individual Diver of the Year Award for the courageous rescue of a seriously injured diving colleague who had been buried in a collapsed trench. Digging out the unconscious diver with his bare hands and recovering him to the surface, Richard undoubtedly saved his colleague’s life.
Amongst the other award winners at the inaugural event, were Reach Engineering and Diving Services (Diver Contractor Achievement Award), Typhoon International Ltd (Subsea Innovation Award) and Pritchard Diving Services (Scientific/Archaeological Award).
