Fiomarine Entering Oil & Gas

Fiomarine has successfully entered the Oil & Gas market with a sale of its Fiobuoys into the expanding Western Australian market. URS Australia has recently placed an order for five Fiobuoys to assist in its offshore underwater operations.

The Tasmanian Company that has been supplying its Fiobuoy all-in-one underwater retrieval system to the national and international Defence market for over ten years, has recently changed its focus towards the lucrative and growing Oil & Gas market. Fiomarine first introduced the Fiobuoy to offshore customers at the Australasian Oil & Gas Exhibition and Conference (AOG) in Perth, Western Australia (WA) earlier this year where it was very well received and recognised as an economical and reliable alternative for recovering underwater equipment.

It was from the show that URS Australia first showed an interest in using the Fiobuoys for retrieving monitoring instruments in a pipeline construction off the coast of WA. URS Australia provides a range of professional engineering and environmental services to a variety of marine industries. It is a subsidiary of the San Francisco based URS Corporation which employs more than 47,000 people worldwide.

Supplying to such a large and established organisation within the industry is an encouraging first step into Oil & Gas for Fiomarine, particularly as the Company has only just begun targeting that market. After AOG 2009 proved such a success for the Company, Fiomarine will again be exhibiting at the next AOG Perth show from the 24th to the 26th March 2010.

As many companies still feel the effects of the global financial crisis, the second half of 2009 is proving to be a success for Fiomarine. As well as penetrating the Oil & Gas market, the Company has continued to make inroads into the large international Marine Research market with sales to both Singapore and China.
