Fugro Pelagos Wins Multiple NOAA Orders in USA
Fugro Pelagos, Inc. has successfully negotiated a series of Task Orders and a new contract award with NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), a bureau of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Fugro Pelagos will be conducting a US$ 10.6 million Task Order for multibeam echo sounder based hydrographic surveys in various locations in Alaska in 2006/2007. The purpose of the survey is to help reduce the charting backlog. In addition, Fugro Pelagos has begun operations on a US$ 2.5 million Task Order conducting side scan sonar based post-hurricane debris mapping in shallow waters off the Alabama coast in the Gulf of Mexico. Both Task Orders are part of the five-year period, US$ 50 million ceiling contract announced in 2005.
Furthermore, Fugro Pelagos and NOAA have finalized the negotiation of a new three year, US$ 30 million contract for conducting nationwide hydrographic surveys using airborne LIDAR (laser technology). The operations will be executed from Fugro Pelagos' offices in Anchorage (Alaska), Stennis (Mississippi) and Honolulu (Hawaii).
