Fugro Ranks in Top 100 Military-Friendly Employers

Fugro sister companies in Lafayette, pioneers in survey technology for the oil patch, have been ranked within the “Top 100 Military-friendly Employers for 2010.” GI Jobs, a military to civilian transition publication and website catering to military job seekers with a monthly circulation of 80,000, selected Fugro for its seventh annual list, drawing from 5,000 US companies.

 

The selection was based on the strength of the company's military recruiting efforts, the percentage of new hires with prior military service and company policies towards national guard and reserve service. Ranked at number 56, Fugro Inc. has been recognised for its military recruitment practices.

As a global leader, Fugro offers advanced geotechnical surveying, seismic, oceanographic, and positioning services.  The company is a leader in the collection and interpretation of data related to the earth's surface, the seabed and the soil and rocks beneath, with three service divisions: geotechnical, geosciences and survey services.

 

The Fugro companies in Lafayette represents three sister companies including Fugro Chance Inc. (offshore surveying and positioning), John Chance Land Surveys, Inc. (aerial lidar mapping and traditional land surveying) and Fugro GeoServices, Inc. (geohazards surveying).  The companies in Lafayette were formed in 1957 as the original John E. Chance & Associates, Inc.

 

On receiving the award on US Veterans' Day, Phil Stutes, President of Fugro Chance in Lafayette, commented that Fugro prizes prior military service. "We hire veterans because they have proven to be adaptable, self-confident and task-driven," Stutes commented.
