Helping Make Blue Water Green

From December 2008 through October 2010, Arjen van Eijk and Florian Dirkse of the Netherlands will set sail on an adventure and produce a documentary targeted at raising awareness about the critical role oceans play in our world's climate. To ensure these two sailors will safely complete their "Care for the Ocean" mission, Hemisphere GPS and its partners Saderet and Nautikaris have donated navigation equipment.

With Hemisphere GPS' VS100 Compass aboard, Florian and Arjen will be able to precisely guide their 10m sailboat from the Galapagos Islands to the Suez Canal, while covering more than 47,000 kilometres of water in between.

"Hemisphere GPS is proud to support The Green Miles project and wishes the two sailors the best of luck," says Phil Gabriel, General Manager of Precision Products. "The VS100 GPS Compass will provide professional heading and positioning that is ideal for their voyage around the world."

The Green Miles project has already generated a large amount of public interest and media attention throughout Europe. This recognition will continue to grow as six, one-hour documentary episodes are produced and aired on international television.
