Hydro14 Programme Finalised

Over 300 delegates from around the world are expected at the International Federation of Hydrographic Societies’ 22nd Hydro Conference at Aberdeen’s Exhibition & Conference Centre from 28 to 30 October 2014. Organised by The Hydrographic Society UK (THS UK) under the theme Energy & Enterprise, the three-day event will feature nearly 60 major organisations and companies on the trade showfloor as well as a series of keynote addresses and specialist technical presentations over ten sessions by leading experts from Azerbaijan, Canada, France, Germany, Iceland, The Netherlands, Norway, UK and the US.

Main conference topics are Data Management & Integration, Future Developments (which will also include selected student presentations), Tidal & Sea Level Monitoring, Low Impact Offshore Exploration, Standards, Data Quality & Resilience, Education & Training, Subsea Engineering Surveying. The programme also includes a special International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) stakeholder forum; similar to those held at the THS UK Digital Hydrography on the Maritime Web conference in Southampton in October 2013, promising to provide an opportunity for delegates to discuss industry matters and concerns with representatives of the Monaco-based inter-governmental agency.

In-situ workshops and local technical visits are among other agenda items along with a pre-conference golf tournament, an ice-breaker party, a reception in the Aberdeen Maritime Museum and a traditional conference dinner in the city’s historic Elphinstone Hall.

An early bird 10% registration discount remains open for 3-day delegates until 31 August 2014 while a similar discount is being offered by Virgin Atlantic for delegates booking onward flights from London Heathrow to Aberdeen via its new Little Red service.

Sponsors of Hydro14, which will be formally opened by the Lord Provost of Aberdeen, George Adam, include Atlas Professionals, Caris, C-Nav, Esri, MMT and QPS.
