IMCA Safety Seminar Programme

Striving for the highest possible standards, with a balance of risk and cost in relation to health and safety, is a key objective of the International Marine Contractors Association's (IMCA). A key tool in achieving this is the series of annual IMCA safety seminars, held around the globe.

The programme is now available for the 2011 Safety Seminar with its theme ‘HSE Practices: Which route to take?'. This, the eleventh in the series, will take place 24th to 25th February 2011 at the NH Laguna Palace Hotel, Mestre, Venice, Italy.

Keynote addresses will be delivered by David Forsyth of Bibby Offshore, who chairs IMCA's Safety, Environment & Legislation Committee; and Hans Johansen of Dong Energy who chairs the OGP (The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers) Safety Committee. Thereafter the seminar features presentations from leading contractors, client representatives and other specialists covering issues such as contractors and clients working together for safety; specific aspects of safety in the offshore environment; health issues; learning from incidents; and various client and contractor safety initiatives. Small group discussion sessions with plenary feedback have proved highly successful at previous events in raising issues, sharing ideas and prompting specific work by IMCA through its committees and workgroups and will feature again this year.

A safety share fair will be a feature at each coffee and lunch break during the two days. Delegates are encouraged to bring a display of their company's safety promotional materials to the event (booking required), enabling those present to review and discuss successful safety initiatives with each other.

Networking at social events is always a feature of IMCA's events, and the 2011 Safety Seminar will be no exception, with a drinks reception and conference dinner.
