Inter-satellite Communication Solutions for Fleet Management

Iridium Satellite has released In Network calling, with which satellite calls between ships and Iridium-equipped shore locations can be made at a considerably lower cost than through conventional public switched telephone networks (PSTN). Calls in the shore-to-ship, ship-to-shore and ship-to-ship directions are directly transmitted from end to end through the Iridium satellites without having to go through a gateway or switching station.
The Iridium satellite terminal in the shore office, like the shipboard terminal, can be connected into the central telephone switching system, so that satellite calls can be initiated and received at phones throughout the facility.
