Keel Marine Celebrates 50 Years

Keel Marine, UK, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The firm was founded in the City of London in 1962 before moving to Hampshire in 1972, and is now established worldwide with offices in India, Japan and Australia.

Over its 50 year history Keel Marine Ltd has been involved in all aspects of shipbuilding, from concept through commissioning and beyond to operations. It has delivered projects across the marine world working on vessels of all types including bulk carriers & tankers, research vessels, passenger ferries, dredgers, tugs, pollution control craft, military patrol craft and inland waterway vessels. At various times it has also been heavily involved in offshore consultancy, ship loading calculators, nuclear submarine decommissioning and civil marine projects.

Interesting projects Keel Marine has been involved with include provision of Naval Architect Support throughout the raising of the Mary Rose and subsequent movement to Portsmouth; provision of naval architecture services to the National Environment Research Council fleet of research vessels, including the conversion and extension of RSS Discovery and the supervision of RSS James Cook  as well as plan review and supervision of the replacement for RSS Discovery; design of oil recovery vessels for harbours and estuaries, utilising booms and mops, and deployed all over the world including UK, Africa, Middle East and South America.
