Malaysian Hydrographic Society Holds First AGM

The Malaysian Hydrographic Society (MyHS) was officially registered on 26 February 2016. A pro-temp committee comprising seven people was elected during the first MyHS meet on 14 November 2015, which was attended by approximately 50 participants. The first annual general meeting (AGM) has recently been held at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam. At this AGM, which took place on 18 February 2017, 44 participants registered and cast their votes.

The first networking high-tea session was held on 9 April 2016 at the Royal Selangor Yacht Club and attracted attendees from various hydrographic backgrounds, including university students. MyHS then participated in the Hydrography Seminar organised by University Technology of Malaysia (UTM) from 18-19 May 2016 at UTM Kuala Lumpur. This was to promote MyHS and its membership options.

Future Events

A MyHS courtesy visit to the Director General office of National Hydrographic Centre (NHC) in Pulau Indah, Port Klang will be effectuated soon. This is to officially introduce MyHS committee to the DG and share common interest in national hydrography matters. This meeting also aims to strengthen the relation between the society and the authority.

MyHS has lined up activities for 2017 and 2018. Among others is to organise hydrographic seminar and exhibition aiming for regional hydrographic related participants. One major event will be the HydroSEA 2018, to be held in Putrajaya Lakeside, located at a 650 hectares manmade lake, 25km from Kuala Lumpur.
