Mariscope ROV Comander MK II Training
During July 2012, members of the Argentinean Coast Guard (PNA, Prefectura Naval Argentina) received on-site training in the use of the ROV recently purchased from Mariscope Meerestechnik. The unit, based on the Comander MK II, has been equipped with a series of special instruments as well as with two hydraulic manipulators provided by Hydrolek. The ROV has been adapted to PNA's requirements in order to carry out various operations related to incidents in navigation and to complement diving operations.
The training was carried out on a PNA vessel near the city of Puerto Madryn, Patagonia. Several tasks had to be fulfilled by the pilots, such as underwater search and recovery, underwater cutting, sonar navigation and others. Especially the ability to cut wires and ropes underwater was one of the main focuses of the training. The recovery of a simulated drowned body from a shipwreck was also carried out successfully.
The training was provided by personnel from Mariscope Argentina and Mariscope Chile and involved a team of 11 divers from PNA.
