MIS Wins Order for a Transponder-base VTS From CGG

Magic Instinct Sofware has been selected by Compagnie Générale de Géophysique to fit their seismic research ships with a transponder-base Vessel Tracking System for securizing the prospect zones and increasing safety during a campaign currently lead in India with national oil company ONGC.
Based on Olex, the Norwegian Electronic Chart System running on Linux platform well known for automatic real-time 2D/3D seafloor mapping features, MIS has developed a client specific software plugin to use Thalés Tracs TDMA system for vessels' tracking in addition to ARPA and AIS possibilities.
Tracs TDMA is an intelligent radio data network which integrates advanced UHF/VHF communications with differential GPS technology.
It is a positioning and tracking product for use in localised areas.
This enables any one of the 37 guard and chase boats surveying the area and navigating around the prospecting vessels to be located, in a 15 mile radius, with a good positional and velocity accuracy.
This information is relayed once per second, via a radio link, to the different Control Stations.
Each mobile TDMA acts as a 'dynamic' repeater whereby if one mobile unit hears two others trying unsuccessfully to communicate, it will set up a relay link between them.
The total purchase includes 5 software licenses for the control vessels whose 3 seismic vessels Alizé, Foehn and Symphony to monitor, display and record the differents tracs.
A specific interface with another Linux software, specialized in seismic navigation (Spectra from Concept Systems) has also been developed to allow real-time transfer and display of targets positions collected in Olex.
