MOTN Goes International
The Marine & Oceanographic Technology Network (MOTN) is to expand its membership and is now welcoming both US national and international members to its ranks. The MOTN charter is to create a cohesive, collaborative approach to increasing marketing presence, offering improved business practise, encouraging shared R&D activities and fostering partnership opportunities between commercial organisations, universities and state and federal government agencies. MOTN also takes a lead role in ensuring that the strategic and economic impact of the commercial marine and oceanographic technology industry remains visible and proactive with the various state and federal funding agencies. Opening up its membership provides the opportunity for MOTN to expand its member base while increasing both its influence and visibility within these important groups.
One MOTN initiative is its biannual Ocean Technology Workshop (OTW) that provides a venue for manufacturers and technologists to interact directly with existing and potential clients through hands-on training and at-sea equipment demonstrations of their latest products and services. The next MOTN OTW, its 4th biannual event, is due to be held in Newport (RI, USA) from 19th to 21st October 2004.
