New Parasound for German Research Vessel

Atlas Hydrographic in Bremen has received an order to supply and instal its new Parasound P70 sub-bottom profiling and bathymetric survey system aboard RV Meteor, the multi-purpose research vessel managed by RF Forschungsschiffahrt on behalf of the German Ministry for Research & Technology.
Replacing an earlier Parasound model and due to be installed in Chile at the beginning of next year, the new hull-mounted system features multi-pulse operation and is capable of providing bottom penetration in excess of 200 metres while sampling data at up to 50kHz frequency over depths down to 11,000 metres. It is supported by a Parastore software suite, an advanced visualisation, acquisition and processing facility for scientific analyses permitting differentiated evaluations of sub-bottom and water column details via a multi-window graphical user interface.
