OB 2011 In-water Sonar Demos

L-3 Klein is to demonstrate the UUV 3500 high-resolution side-scan sonar in conjunction with the coming Ocean Business 2011 exhibition at the National Oceanography Center in Southampton, United Kingdom. L-3 Klein will be conducting live in-water demonstrations utilising the vessel Bill Conway. Advance registrations are required, as space is limited.

For more information and demo reservation, please contact L-3 Klein directly at the Electronic Design Booth (Level 1-Stand L13).

The UUV 3500 was developed as a side-scan sonar payload for unmanned underwater vehicles with the unprecedented benefit of an advanced bathymetry payload for the growing Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) and Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle (ROV) markets. L-3's UUV 3500 product line leverages powerful, multi-channel processing electronics, offering both photo-quality side-scan imagery and swath bathymetry that together exceed the performance of standard multi-beam echo sounders. In addition, the new system utilises L-3 Klein's proprietary wideband technology for unmatched range and resolution while operating at lower power to deliver superior capability at a highly affordable price.

The swath bathymetry option allows for wide-swath performance which is typically ten to twelve times the overall altitude of the UUV and thereby significantly greater coverage than can be achieved by a multi-beam echo sounder.

The system electronics will easily integrate into most small UUV platforms currently on the market and is also available in a water-tight pressure case configuration. L-3 Klein's newly designed, ruggedised transducers are built to last and perform in the most demanding environmental conditions.
