Oman Continental Shelf Extension Survey Project

Gardline CGG has been awarded a contract by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman for the Oman continental shelf extension survey. The agreement aims to prepare a comprehensive file to complete the extension of the limits of the continental shelf in accordance with Article 76 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

The project will consist of 3 distinct but consecutive survey phases. The first phase will consist of long offset broadband 2D seismic with multibeam bathymetry, gravity and magnetic data acquisition. The second phase will be a detailed multibeam bathymetry and sub-bottom profiling campaign. The third and final phase will be a deep water rock dredging and TV-Grab campaign.

The project is scheduled to start in early October 2015 in Oman following dry docking of MV Duke, Gardline CGG’s multirole survey vessel, in Singapore. The project duration is estimated to be for 5 months.

Gardline CGG was selected for the versatility of its survey vessel Duke and its survey systems. Due to its unique capabilities, Duke is capable of doing this project in its entirety without going through extensive remobilisation between phases. Furthermore, Gardline’s experience in undertaking UNCLOS surveys across the world for the past decade have been a reference for the company.
