Orders for Brooke Ocean Technology

Brooke Ocean Technology has been busy filling a number of orders for its Moving Vessel Profiler (MVP). This includes an MVP100 to the University of Nagasaki, MVP800 to the UK Ministry of Defence (via Space and Naval Warfare (SPAWAR), USA), MVP30 to the US Naval Oceanographic Office, MVP200 and MVP100 to the National Oceanographic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and an MVP200 to the Canadian Navy (Defence Research Development Canada – Atlantic).
The MVP permits near vertical data profiles to be collected with the use of a recoverable free fall fish. The system utilizes a computer-controlled smart winch and deployment system that can operate with the vessel underway at speeds up to 18 knots. MVP is completely automated and can be operated by computer without the requirement for personnel on deck.
The free fall fish can be equipped with a variety of instruments, including a CTD, sound velocity probe and laser optical plankton counter. For multi-beam surveys, MVP provides real-time sound velocity corrections and saves ship time by eliminating the requirement to stop and complete a static sound velocity cast. In addition, savings in multi-beam data processing can be realised through improved data quality.
