Popular Marine GIS Workshop

OceanWise, UK, hosted its annual Marine GIS Workshop in London on Tuesday 17 November 2015. This year’s event considered “why data is important and why good data management is critical to the health of projects, programmes and your company bottom line”. For the second consecutive year the event was fully booked.

Throughout the day attendees were treated to stimulating and thought provoking keynotes, customer case studies and presentations from both private and public sector organisations. Initial feedback from presenters and attendees has been positive, with the keynotes highlighting the importance of data management to every business (from DAMA UK) and the importance of coordinate reference systems and the things that can go wrong if they are not managed well, being particularly popular. Plans are being considered to run a parallel event in Scotland and move to a bigger venue for the London event in 2016.
