RESON SeaBat Project in Antarctica Completed

The National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research (NCAOR), Goa, Under the Ministry of Ocean Development, Government of India, successfully launched and completed a special expedition to the new Indian Antarctic base in the Laresemann Hills area of East Antarctica and to the Southern Ocean studies onboard the Research Vessel Akademik Boris Petrov between 25th January-1st April, 2006. During the expedition the scientists used a RESON SeaBat 8101 ER Multi-beam Echosounder system to chart the depths in Prydz Bay, corridor of Larsemann Hills up to the Ingrid Christensen Coast in Antarctica.
The data obtained from the RESON SeaBat 8101 system shall be used to ensure safe navigation of the vessels sailing into the region for accessing the mooring site for the India’s base in Larsemann Hills. The system provided excellent data, with an intuitive operator interface and powerful RESON PDS2000 data acquisition and processing software.
