RS Aqua Prepared for OI 2014
UK-based RS Aqua will be showcasing many new products during Oceanology International 2014, to be held from 11 to 13 March 2014 in the ExCeL Centre, London. The following featured items represent the major developments being highlighted at Stand F550 during the three-day event.
The Rosemount WaveRadar division at RS Aqua will be launching a new remote data telemetry facility at Oi14. The WaveRadar offshore wave, tide and air-gap system has been enhanced by the development of an integrated wave data collection, processing and telemetry solution for remote wave monitoring. This new system connects the WaveRadar REX sensor directly to an enclosed micro-computer running WaveView software. Data are then sent via Iridium satellite (SBD) to an online data display and export interface, a version of Oceanwise Ltd’s “Port-Log”, which allows end users to view processed wave data from the WaveRadar in “real time”, anywhere in the world.
Datawell bv will be featuring their DWR4 Directional Waverider with Currents, a product launched at Oi12 and proving to be a hit with the ocean monitoring market. This is the fourth generation of the Waverider series. On the customer service front, the joint collaboration between RS Aqua and Datawell which saw the establishing of a UK Calibration and Service Centre for Waveriders at the RS Aqua facilities in NE Hampshire, has proved phenomenally popular with users and a constant stream of Waverider buoys have been calibrated during 2013.
From MetOcean Data Systems comes their new PABLO profiling float which gathers acoustic profiles in the upper 1,000m of the ocean. The standard instrument collects acoustic, temperature, pressure and position data for transmission via the Iridium satellite network. There is growing scientific interest in evaluating the serious threats to the marine environment as posed by anthropogenic sounds such as those originating from sonars, dredging and maritime activities and offshore exploration operations. PABLO is user configurable but typically can gather profiles on a daily basis for close to one year.
Rowe Technologies Inc will be displaying instruments from their ADCP and DVL product ranges including single and dual frequency devices spanning 20 to 2400 kHz. ROV and AUV operator interest in the DVL devices, which offer a mix of specification flexibility, reliability and competitive pricing, is proving to be particularly strong.
Germany’s Nautilus Marine Systems GmbH will be showing examples of their Vitrovex glass products including deep ocean buoyancy spheres and instrument housings.
Turner Designs Inc will feature the deep water (6,000m) version of their Cyclops (C7) fluorometer. This version enables deep ocean researchers to use this device for a host of fluorescence parameter detection applications in deep ocean conditions. Also being featured is the Enviro-T single channel fluorometer which is housed in a plumbing tee for direct in-line measurement of whatever fluorophore is of interest in the flow.
Californian based Precision Measurement Engineering (PME) will be featuring their exceptionally popular MiniDOT Dissolved Oxygen logger which collects and stores high precision Dissolved Oxygen and Temperature data over a user configurable period with flexible sampling frequencies. Also on display will be the PME T-Chain, a device for marine and fresh water applications. T-Chain is a Temperature string that also collects Dissolved Oxygen, Chlorophyll, Conductivity, Pressure and PAR data. Applications are manifold.
This will be the first Oi show where RS Aqua experts will be promoting Iridium telemetry services (data telemetry and back office) as an outreach centre for JouBeh Technologies Ltd, the Nova Scotia based Iridium service dealer. Many UK and Irish Iridium telemetry users have signed up to the JouBeh service during the latter part of 2013 subsequent to the signing of the collaboration agreement RS Aqua and JouBeh.
Fish tracking has become a significant market sector for RS Aqua over the last 12 months following the signing of a collaborative agreement with Nova Scotia manufacturer Vemco. Their wide range of fish tags and acoustic receivers will be featured and experts from Vemco will be on hand to discuss product applications.
