Running Virtual Underwater Modems
EvoLogics, headquartered in Germany, is offering free access to the EvoLogics communication and positioning emulator immediately after a purchase order for hardware. The communication and positioning emulator framework does not require hardware. Instead, it allows a network of virtual underwater acoustic modems to be configured and run on an EvoLogics server. This enables software to be tested before hardware delivery, thus making optimal use of the time.
The tool emulates all fthe eatures of the modems' data-link layer and includes a physical layer simulator. Code written and tested on the emulator can be later run on the communication and positioning devices without any modifications.
The emulator can simplify implementation of the customer's solutions, as training and coding can start immediately after placement of the purchase order. It is a great tool for planning, refining and testing the code while the hardware is being produced.
The communication and positioning emulator has been used by EvoLogics' academic partners for testing and debugging custom underwater networking protocols. It is also available as a standalone subscription-based product for protocol developers who do not need the actual hardware at early development stages.
