Sailing Direction CD-ROM

The North Sea (west) Pilot published in December 2003 is the first Admiralty Sailing Direction to be published with a CD-ROM included free of charge. The CD version of this Sailing Direction adds value to the paper version by including additional photography, a direct link to the UKHO web-site and the functionality of hyper links to help navigate around the contents.
Major port and waterway information, small harbour anchorage and facilities are allocated their own sections within the area chapters in both the paper digital versions. Each chapter contains a helpful chart let, cross-referencing and a comprehensive index. This helps mariners locate the essential information required for safe navigational planning and execution. The CD-ROM cannot be corrected, so the paper publication should be updated from weekly Notice to Mariners to comply with SOLAS regulations.
