Sales of Clamparatus

The Oceanscience Group Ltd has sold four instrument mounts to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. These allow an acoustic Doppler current profiler or other instrument to be mounted on an existing navigation buoy without modifications to the buoy. The mounts include real-time data links to shore-side installations. A variety of RF and satellite links are available.
The Clamparatus, as the mount is known, was developed for NOAA PORTS programme. ‘PORTS’ utilises US Coast Guard buoys and other platforms to provide ships’ masters and pilots with accurate, real-time information required for grounding and collision avoidance. Similar mounts being used on a privately owned oil-offloading buoy and US Coast Guard buoys around the US.
The existing design will fit most large US Coast Guard buoys and can be modified to fit other buoys. Oceanscience also manufactures dedicated data buoys.
