Scripps Buys MARINUS
The Scripps Institution of Oceanography has become the first organisation in the United States to take delivery of an advanced new MARINUS Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHARS). The unit has been developed in the UK by VT TSS Ltd to provide corrections of exceptional accuracy when working with multi-beam sonar in extreme sea conditions. The Scripps Institution will be using its new MARINUS system to support Kongsberg EM 120 deep-water multi-beam sonar aboard the R/V Roger Revelle. The ship has a full programme of academic research projects in Pacific Ocean waters planned for the coming year.
