Seminar on Dredging and Reclamation

The 37th edition of the IADC Seminar on Dredging and Reclamation will be held in co-operation with the National University of Singapore, taking place at the Grand Park City Hall hotel (Singapore) from 24th Monday to Friday 28th October 2011.

Utilising a combination of lectures and workshops conducted by experts, this five-day course strives to explain the complexities of dredging. Subjects covered include the development of new ports and maintenance of existing ports; project phasing (identification, investigation, feasibility studies, design, construction,...); descriptions of types of dredging equipment and boundary conditions for their use; state-of-the-art dredging techniques as well as environmentally sound techniques; pre-dredging and soil investigations, designing and estimating from the contractor's view and costing of projects and types of contracts such as charter, unit rates, lump-sum and risk-sharing agreements.

Getting out of the classroom and into the field is an important feature of the seminar therefore a visit to a dredging project is planned.

For eighteen years the International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) has been organising international seminars on dredging and reclamation for (future) decision makers and their advisors in governments, port and harbour authorities, offshore companies and other organisations. Almost 1,000 young professionals have benefitted from these seminars, improving their ability to understand the intricacies of dredging projects.

Most often these seminars are conducted in co-operation with local technical universities, providing week-long intensive instruction. These especially developed courses have been successfully presented all over the world including Delft, Singapore, Dubai, Buenos Aires, Bahrain, Mexico and Abu Dhabi.
