Simrad Launches New Composite Transducer
Simrad has announced the release of a new transducer improving shallow water and close to the surface fishing. The 'Combi-Wide', available now, is a 38/200 kHz wide beam transducer that utilises composite transducer technology, which is only available from Simrad. Both frequencies have a 30° x 30° opening angle and the system is the first to feature a wide beam at 200kHz.
The key benefit of the Combi-Wide is that there is no longer a need to choose between high resolution and coverage area when fishing in shallow water or close to the surface. Until now, fishermen have been forced to choose either a wide beam with a low frequency or a narrow beam with a high frequency. Low frequency results in poor resolution so targets aren't always spotted and a narrow beam means that only a small area can be viewed at a time. The sophisticated design and materials of the Combi-Wide however, means that fishermen really can have the best of both worlds.
The Combi-Wide can be integrated with Simrad's EQ60 and ES60 professional
fishing echosounders to form a versatile fish finding system ideal for boats of all sizes from sports fishing to supertrawlers. Simrad’s first two installations of the Combi-Wide demonstrate this flexibility: one on a 45” sports fisher in the US and another on the Libas, the largest pelagic vessel in the Norwegian fleet. The Combi-Wide can also operate with Simrad's updated EQ44 and EQ54 systems, offering further applications for this revolutionary new product.
