Sonardyne Completes Aberdeen Office Expansion

Sonardyne International has completed the expansion of its Aberdeen office in the UK to meet the demand from its European customer base. The company has acquired premises adjoining its existing offices in the Bridge of Don, increasing the space available by a third for customer training, equipment servicing and warehousing for greater stock holding.

The new training facilities are central to the office expansion programme and provide Sonardyne with the space needed to host customer demonstrations and technology workshops. It will also allow a more regular and established schedule of product training courses to take place in Aberdeen in addition to the in-water training which currently takes place at Sonardyne's dedicated sea trials and training centre in Plymouth, UK.

To mark the opening of Sonardyne's new premises, the company has announced a series of training courses for 2012 that begin with SPRINT in March. SPRINT is Sonardyne's Subsea Precision Reference Inertial Navigation Technology for subsea vehicles. Although the system only became commercially available last year, it has been proven to extend the operating limits of USBL positioning systems and improve the operational efficiency of LBL positioning through the use of sparse transponder arrays. For these reasons, SPRINT has created interest from both survey and contracting companies.
