Sonavision Centaur Range of Bathymetric Systems

Sonavision announced the launch of the Centaur range of Bathymetric Systems at the UUVS Exhibition in Southampton (UK). For the first time, this bathymetric system includes an annual calibration procedure which can be run by customer or rental company without having to be returned to the manufacturer. The Centaur is based on the UK94 Bathymetric system and like its predecessor incorporates a digiquartz pressure sensor and a high resolution altimeter. It is a pin for pin replacement for this industry standard, but uses up-to date electronics and features auto-sensing RS232/RS485 electronics. The altimeter (also available as a standalone product 'Echo') uses 16bit electronics, providing millimetric resolution. In addition, the Centaur will interface with a CT probe, transferring this data to the surface or using it for calculations prior to transmitting the data. This feature enables locally corrected data, the speed of sound and temperature to be fed directly into the ROV's control computer.
