SonTek Current Meters Chosen for Offshore Windfarm
OSIL has supplied a SonTek Argonaut SL (Side-Looking) current meter to an offshore windfarm near Barrow-in-Furness for Vestas. The Argonaut is an advanced Acoustic Doppler Profiler (ADP) and will be mounted on a piling where it can monitor the water’s current speed and direction, as it flows past the windfarm. This will help provide a greater understanding of the metocean conditions affecting the windfarm.
The Argonaut SL is an Acoustic Doppler Current Meter with all-digital signal processing to ensure reliable data collection. The Argonaut SL never requires recalibration, and accuracy is not affected by biological growth.
Two versions of the Argonaut SL are available – a close-range device for 0.2m to 22m or a long-range version capable of measuring a distance of 0.5m to 150m. Options for non-directional waves, external LCD data display, current profiling, water quality, telemetry, and mounting extend the capabilities of the Argonaut-SL to a variety of other applications.
