Stef Mars, Stema Survey Services

Stef Mars, 63, founder and director of Stema Survey Services in Geldermalsen, The Netherlands, passed away on 27 April 2005 in Deil, The Netherlands, after a short illness.
After secondary school, Stef studied at the Nautical College in Den Helder for chief/first mate. After a short period in the merchant marines he joined the Boskalis Westminster dredging company where he remained for the next 18 years.
Over the past 19 years, Stef had been building his international hydrographical survey company, Stema Survey Services. Within Stema he initiated and inspired the development of the DensiTune silt density meter and the Silas software for acoustic sources.
His son Joost will continue what his father started and has taken over as chief executive of Stema.
