Wave Energy for La Réunion

A commercial-scale CETO wave energy generation unit is to be deployed on the French territory of La Réunion, about 600m offshore between Aéroport de Pierrefonds and Pointe du Diable. Carnegie (Australia) is working with the first CETO licencee and joint venture partner EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF-EN).

This single CETO 4 unit deployment has been partially funded by a French Government grant of USD5 million and is the first stage of a larger planned CETO Project. This expected to be followed by Stage 2 in which the project would be expanded to a grid connected 2MW array with a further Stage 3 of 15MW planned.
