Wind Energy Efforts Axys Recognised

AXYS Technologies has been selected as the recipient of the 2010 VIATeC Technology Award for Innovative Excellence. AXYS was recognised as a company that has researched and designed an innovative service, process or product that is expected to revolutionise a sector, method of business or way of life. The efforts in the offshore wind power market are recognised.

Designed and launched in 2009, the WindSentinel wind resource assessment buoy is ground-breaking in the offshore wind power industry for four reasons: it requires substantially less time to deploy than a standard meteorological mast, it requires no significant licenses or governmental approvals, and it costs one-tenth of the traditional met tower while allowing developers to move and reuse the buoy in multiple locations and projects. The WindSentinel also has the ability to support additional sensors, allowing developers to perform wind assessment and comprehensive environmental monitoring, such as current and wave profiling from one buoy.

Growth in the offshore wind power industry has been rapidly increasing with over 165 new wind farms planned across the globe in the next five years. AXYS has been able to uniquely position itself to capitalise on the coming growth in offshore wind developments worldwide.
