New Feature Objects Database

HydroService AS has launched next-generation dKart Feature Objects Database software (dKart FODB 2.1) for use with the dKart Office ENC and Paper chart production system. dKart FODB is intended for centralised handling of scale-independent objects information: aids to navigation, traffic separation schemes, pipelines, etc. The benefits of such an ‘enhanced NavAids database’ are that any scale-independent object (e.g. buoy) that belongs to several charts is created/edited only once - in the database. Applied up-dates/changes are distributed to affected charts in an automated way. (read more)

UKHO Hydrographic Database Solution

EDS, as a prime contractor, and CARIS, as the sub-contractorhave been selected for the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) Hydrographic Database (HDB) Project. Through the HDB Project, EDS and CARIS will merge Workflow Management technologies together with Bathy DataBASE and Hydrographic Production Database (HPD) software to manage and create paper and electronic chart products. During Ocean Business, CARIS officially launched and demoed the new version of Bathy DataBase 3.1 which as a new feature supports Oracle 11g. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has published the ECS Database standard, ISO 19379 and this is now available for purchase. In the United States copies of this copyright document can be obtained from Mr James Spicer, james.spicer@ihs. com, Tel: 800-854-7179 Ext. 7968. In other countries, purchase can be made from the local national standards committee. Tides Database Upgrade for SHOM

A major upgrade of CherSoft’s TdB (Tides Database) has been completed by the Service hydrographique et océanographique de la marine (SHOM), France. Maritime Boundaries Database Now Online

Marine Regions, an online standard list of georeferenced marine place names, areas, regions, marine and maritime boundaries, has been launched. It is an integration of the VLIMAR Gazetteer and the VLIZ Maritime Boundaries Geodatabase. Marine Regions is managed by the Flanders Marine Institute. The VLIMAR Gazetteer is a database with geographic, mainly marine names such as seas, sandbanks, seamounts, ridges, bays or even standard sampling stations used in marine research. Backscatter - From Ping to Database
