Type Approval for ORCA Pilot G2 Portable Pilot Unit

DNV GL has developed an industry standard for the type approval of Portable Pilot Units (PPUs) to allow ports, terminal operators and pilot organisations to assure a minimum standard in the selection process of their equipment. Manufacturers of navigation equipment can test their products against this standard. The ORCA Pilot G2 unit, created by SevenCs, Germany, is the first product worldwide to achieve compliance. Russian Floating Nuclear Power Unit Sets Sail to the Arctic

Last Friday, Russia's first floating power unit (FPU) Akademik Lomonosov set sail from the Arctic port of Murmansk for Pevek, Chukotka, in Russia's Far East, where it will provide power to one of the country’s most remote regions. This is sparking environmental concerns. iSURVEY Awarded Major Contract with Maersk Oil's Danish Business Unit

Following an eight-year relationship with Maersk Oil, iSURVEY has been awarded a survey and positioning contract with the international oil and gas company. Precise GPS Without Base Stations or Reference Services

Terratec is introducing software capable of accurate positioning based on post-processing of GPS-observations, without the use of reference stations or DGPS services. Typical accuracy for kinematic applications are 3cm horizontally and 4cm vertically (RMS). TerraPos utilize precise orbits and clock corrections for the satellites, together with error modeling to produce positions with impressing accuracy. UK-based seabed mapping and coastal survey specialist Osiris Projects has chosen iXBlue for the motion reference systems to integrate with the survey and navigation suite on board its new-build survey vessel the SV Bibby Tethra.
