Cruiseship INS Orders

Hamburg-based SAM Electronics, Germany, has received orders to supply four NACOS 65-5 integrated navigation command systems for new cruise ships currently under construction in major European yards on behalf of Carnival Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises and Costa Cruises for delivery in 2011 and 2012. Ships to be equipped with the systems are Carnival Cruise Lines' Carnival Magic being built at Fincantieri's Monfalcone shipyard in Italy, and Celebrity Cruises' Celebrity Silhouette (image) under construction by Meyer Werft in Germany. IMO Approval for Orion INS

The IMO (International Maritime Authority) has approved the Orion Inertial Navigation System (INS) as meeting the performance standards required by gyrocompasses used for commercial shipping. NACOS INS Retrofitted to QE2

A SAM Electronics’ NACOS 35-4 integrated navigation system has been installed on the QE2, as part of a major three-week refurbishment project completed in May by Germany’s leading repair and conversion yard, Lloyd Werft of Bremerhaven (Germany). The system, which replaces an earlier different navigation assembly, comprises three Chartradar 1000 units each combining radar and electronic charting in addition to integrated track control and conning functions, a Trackpilot, and two chartpilot 9330 for provision of planning, track and map data. NovAtel Launches GNSS+INS Positioning Device

NovAtel, Canada, has recently added the IMU-ISA-100C as an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) option to its SPAN GNSS+INS line of positioning products. The IMU-ISA-100C is a near navigation grade IMU for platform stabilisation, general purpose navigation, photogrammetry, remote sensing and ground mobile mapping applications. CDL TOGS2 Smaller Subsea INS

Following the unprecedented success of our original TOGS system, CDL has announced the release of the second generation TOGS2 incorporating the latest iXBlue FOG IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit). TOGS2 is a major advancement over the original system. Commodore Jha takes charge of INS Venduruthy

Commodore S. Jha took over as the Naval Officer-in-charge of Kerala, from Commodore A.T. Lucose at an impressive parade held in the Naval Base here. Commissioned into the Naval Service in 1978, Commodore Jha is a specialist Hydrographer.   He had commanded survey ships INS Nirdeshak and INS Nirupak before.
