Oceaneering Selects Valeport Sensor Technology for Its Subsea Freedom Vehicles

Oceaneering International has selected Valeport sensor technology for integration into its subsea Freedom vehicles.  Oceaneering’s next-generation hybrid ROV, Freedom, will be fitted with Valeport Bathypack, Altimeter and Hyperion Fluorometer sensors.  Hydrographic and oceanographic instrument designer Valeport, worked closely with Oceaneering’s engineering team to meet challenges in communication and connector requirements. The Valeport sensors in the Midas Bathypack were ethernet enabled to offer precision sound velocity, conductivity, temperature, depth and altimeter data, which is used to enhance the operational capability of the Freedom resident vehicle. Taiwan Boosts its Current Ocean Research With New Fleet

A new fleet of oceanographic research vessels is expected to be launched in the first half of 2020. This means a boost to Taiwan’s ocean current research and homeland security protection. The fleet will comprise four ships, three of which are to be delivered by early next year, including two 500-ton vessels and one 1,000-ton vessel. Modus Expands its Fleet of Hybrid Autonomous Underwater Vehicles

Modus, a provider of modular subsea vehicles and managed services for inspection, intervention, trenching, survey and construction support, has placed an order with Saab Seaeye for the next vehicle in its Hybrid Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (HAUV) fleet. The 3,000m rated Saab Sabertooth will be delivered in Q3 2019. Portuguese Survey Company Puts Software through its Paces

Released to selected trial customers earlier this year, the next-generation software for Kongsberg Maritime’s GeoSwath Plus shallow-water multibeam echosounder has already been put through its paces on the River Douro in northern Portugal by survey company Lagoa do Ruivo Survey (LRS). L-3 to Sell Its Marine Systems International Business

L-3 Communications, USA, has entered into a definitive agreement with Wärtsilä Corporation, Finland, to sell its Marine Systems International (L-3 MSI) business. The transaction is anticipated to be completed in the second quarter of 2015, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. The transaction, with a base purchase price of EUR285 million, is subject to customary adjustments and an estimated reduction of EUR60 million for L-3 MSI employee pension-related liabilities to be assumed by Wärtsilä Corporation. The integration of the new generation of Argos-3 compatible terminals called Platform Messaging Transceiver (PMT) is in full swing.
