Metocean Services International, a new company for the global provision of metocean services, was launched at the beginning of September It was formed in response to the industry requirement for alternative providers of specialised metocean services on a global scale. MSI aims to provide the entire range of oceanographic and meteorological services to the offshore oil & gas market, coastal engineers, dredging companies, port authorities etc. These will include inter alia physical measurement services, desktop studies, data processing/reporting and weather forecasting. Sakhalin Survey for Romona Geosolutions

Romona GeoSolutions, the joint venture between Thales GeoSolutions and its partner in Russia, Romona Ltd, has been awarded its first major geoscience contract. The contract comes from the Rosneft and BP Alliance. Worth approximately US$ 3 million, the contract covers a range of geophysical, geotechnical and geochemical surveys to be completed by mid-October this year. Trenching UK Power Cable

In a milestone for the development of UK Renewable Offshore Power Generation, a sub-sea plough designed and built by The Engineering Business Ltd (EB) is currently trenching power export cables for the North Hoyle offshore wind farm. Offshore Cote D’Ivoire Repairs

HydroDive and it’s Alliance partners have just completed repairs in 235 ft. water offshore Cote D’Ivoire, carried out with the combination of Saturation diving techniques and a ‘Phoenix’ work-class ROV supporting operations from the DP II vessel ADAMS Surveyor. Although the ADAMS Surveyor has performed on various Diving and ROV Support Projects since the Alliance’s inception early this year, this is the first project where both the Phoenix ROV and HydroDive in Saturation have been in support. The Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre, Scotland, UK will provide a venue for the international offshore oil and gas industry to attend Offshore Europe 2003, from 2nd to 5th September 2003, with more than 24,500 visitors expected from 72 countries and over 1,600 exhibiting companies. ECA Project Leader ‘HALIODSTAR’

ECA is to develop the AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) ALISTAR 3000 for the ultra-deep operating offshore industry in the context of a programme called ‘HALIODSTAR’. VisualWorks System for Philippines Pipeline Project

VisualWorks has been selected by Australian underwater services company Covus Corporation Pty Ltd and its client Shell Philippines Exploration B.V. (SPEX) as the Digital Video system to be used on the 2003 inspection campaign of all subsea assets associated with the Malampaya deepwater gas production facilities offshore the Philippines.
